Renewing an SSL Certificate is almost the same process as
ordering or purchasing a new SSL Certificate. However you do get certain additional benefits if you renew an
SSL Certificate. Most SSL vendors provide special renewal prices and bonuses.
While you can renew your SSL Certificate with your original CSR which you generated while purchasing the certificate, it is advisable to generate a fresh CSR and Private Key. The reason behind this is that with a new CSR and new Private Key, you can be assured about your new certificate matching your Private Key.
Renewal Options
Once your new CSR has been generated, you will be able to access the online ordering system. This will allow you to renew your
SSL Certificate or buy a new SSL Certificate if you need one. For renewals, you should click on the renewal options.
It is possible to renew almost all SSL Certificates. You can even renew an
SSL Certificate purchased from one vendor with another vendor. Most vendors provide special benefits if you renew an
SSL Certificate your purchased elsewhere.
If however the SSL Certificate you wish to renew is not available, you might have to
choose a new type of SSL Certificate.
